The easiest way to fix this is to install fallout 3 goty edition and boot fallout 3. Then back out and try to boot fallout new Vegas it should fix it! I had the same issue. I believe I fixed it by launching it in desktop mode, or using a different proton version.
One way to play some games without steam is to go to [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common] to find your games installed through steam. If you go into the individual game folders and open the .exe's, you can bypass steam. Other times, like with F:NV, you will be taken to the steam login window. 1.
That sounds very familiar (the ini file suggestion) and I'm guessing you are talking about this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Fallout_default.ini Problem is that I only have an option called bAllowConsole and it is already set to 1. bAllowConsole=1 I looked at the other topics about the Infrared device/ehome and I don't have any devices like that and Its going to be the first reality game. :D. #14. Simple as that, no need for dragging files into the main folder and all that crap.
